It's May Day and marchers are united in solidarity for labor and immigrant rights at the bottom of our hill.
Is Asher flipping the bird to those marchers? Apparently he doesn't appreciate Sunset being closed down for the parade.

you had a mayday parade! fantastic!
we had a parade but i missed it because of class. but then someone started a rumor that i was going to strike for may day, and so nobody read the reading for class, and i stood there for an hour and a half asking questions and saying "really? nobody knows? nobody?!" i didn't find out about the secret rumor until the student who started it drunkenly confessed to me last week. he should have waited until i turned in my grades...
so i'm glad that YOU went to the parade! i clearly should have!
